Tell us a little about yourself!
Hi! My name’s Jasmine Sky Sarin, I’m 20 years old and from Vancouver, BC. I currently live in Los Angeles because I’m actually a dual citizen for both Canada and America. I’ve been taking classes here on and off for a few years but my main passion has always been acting and social media, which is the main reason I moved out here.
When did you first discover your passion?
I first discovered my passion for social media like Youtube and Instagram when I was twelve years old. I started watching beauty and fashion videos on Youtube and instantly became obsessed, I knew I had to start making my own. I loved that on Youtube you could have complete freedom over what you posted, I was excited to explore my creativity and express myself through videos.
When did you first experience growth?
I started experiencing growth in my channel and social media when I was about fourteen, my videos were gaining attraction and I also started hanging out with other creators so we would make content together, this helped all of our channels grow and reach new audiences. I think the reason why people love to watch Youtube is because they are usually relatable, like when people post daily vlogs, storytimes, advice videos etc, we can relate to their lives because they are just like us.
Do you see this more as a hobby or as a profession?
I have always seen social media as just a hobby for me, I love to create content and I always will but only has something I do for fun. Acting has always been my main passion and I love that my channel has helped me gain an audience and break me out of my shell.
Walk us through a quick brief of your day to day?
My days usually consist of class for a couple of hours, it varies depending on the day. I also take some time out of most days to take photos, usually for Instagram, all around LA. I’m also always checking and replying to emails whether it’s corresponding with my agent, a company or brand or my parents! I always try to see my friends at least a few times a week and I go to restaurants to eat out….a lot!
Where do you see this going?
Although, I am just enjoying creating content for my Instagram, I’m focusing on acting right now so Youtube and Instagram is just what I do for fun.
Who do you look up to?
My role model is my mom, I have always looked up to her because she is the most hardworking woman I know. She owns a film company with my dad and is a producer so she is working 24/7 but is always there for my two siblings and I the second we need her. She can solve every problem that comes her way and has the most positive and uplifting attitude.
Tell us a funny interaction you've had with a fan.
A couple years ago I was in Palm Springs for Coachella and it was the day after the first day, I walked into Taco Bell looking absolutely dead and went to order. It turned out the cashier watched my Youtube videos and she gave me free tacos! Score!
